MG, have you tried "The Detective's Daughter series by Lesley Thomson? I think you'd like them. I downloaded the Monica Dickens book Dimps was posting about on Dogs. So will give that a go soon.

I'm on series 9 of Greys btw cheers

I'll order the first from the library, I always do that with a series and if I don't love it, no harm done, thanks Claire.

I still have my four episodes unwatched from the latest series, I am saving them for a special occasion lol

I read that one recently, let me know what you think when you finish.

I'm a Stephen King geek, have read everything he has written, just finished his latest "the Outsider" and it was a steaming pile of poo! So disappointed, from the man who wrote the Green Mile.....  ]

Lucky you! Maybe a photo may appear on here one day? Very Happy

I like many of SK books too just not the fantasy ones or too gory ones. I loved Green Mile, The Shining, Dr Sleep, The Stand and 11/22/63, especially that.

I went off SK when he wrote IT.  Although it was good, it was far too long and explanatory. It could have been a  small paperback.

I've not bought a new book in many years now. I got rid of all those I had. Three bookcases plus boxes and boxes of them in the loft.   I felt so free.  now I just beg, borrow or DL the free ones from Amazon.

I used to be an avid reader and never without a book in my hand.  but now only read a couple of chapters in bed before sleep.

Just finished that one Claire recommended on dogs. The Eleanor Oliphant one It was on Kindle and pages all over the show but a nice read.

I have Mr Mercedes and the follow up still to read. My friend and I share a Kindle Library and she bought those two. I enjoyed 11/22/63 because I love time travel, then my son and I watched the series.

If anyone likes Time Travel books - The Accidental Time Traveller by Sharon Griffith is good.

I finished Eleanor Oliphant, which was fantastic. I'd recommend having a read if you haven't already.

I have also just finished A Shilling For A Wife by Emma Hornby another good read.

The one who wrote Raised by Wolves, it was made into a tv series but I haven’t watched that yet.

Just finished the 10th book in the Ruth Galloway novels. They are quick easy reads but kind of interesting too.

About to dig into All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. It's had rave reviews. Not that those always mean I love the book!

Just read the last of the Frieda Klein series and last night a read (in a oner) "House Swap" by Rebecca Flee.

It was great!

Just about to start "Behind a Closed Door" by Adele O'Neill. First scene is set in Dublin, so should be good.

Will report back.
