No deal Brexit

Post by Viper on Thu Jul 19, 2018 11:58 am

Brexit as made clear during the referendum on both sides of the debate (out SM, CU, ECJ jurisdiction and end to FoM) is basically the no deal scenario. The ERG amendments cleverly using EU negotiating position against them means that no deal is now the most likely scenario. May tried but frankly made a mess of it.

So brexit the real deal is now the most likely scenario. How do you feel about that?

I think good. Take the cash off the table. Give us a few years to establish a new normal. Have faith in UK trade. If in a few years we fancy a deal with EU then we can look at that in our own time. EU by that time will have continued down its current path of closer union and economic decline.

All smoke and mirrors. The whole thing is a farce and always was. if it fails it's because they want it to fail.

The EU needs us more than we need them. like any country is going to turn down trading with us Very Happy Just leave already.

'Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.'

The commentators tell us that changing tory leader doesnt xhange parlimentary arithmetic. True. What it does (will do likely this autumn) is install a brexiteer in number ten who can then go to HoC and say its hard brexit or GE. If you vote for GE then be aware 74% of MPs represent brexit voting constituencies.

May cannot do this. Thats why i think ERG are backstopping hard brexit and will implement leadership change in Autumn.

Hard brexit (aka actual brexit before for some reason remainers were allowed to control the brexit narrative).

Tick tock. No deal looks more likely with the passing of time. If EU decide to extend art50 (all 27 have to agree) then we ve got em on the ropes. They re playing to our tune. If not then its no deal. yes

So EU are knocking back chequers and basically coming to the crunch saying we stay in CU or nowt.

Nowt it is! The remainers have played right into our hands. Smart money now is on no deal. May cannot survive back tracking on CU or extending a50.

Hard brexit

So, hard border in Ireland. Great. I think we'll go from the UK if this is the case.

Looking forward to the judgement. All three devolved parliaments standing together against Westminster.

I dont think the needle has moved in favour of Scottish independence since the referendum.

There's independence marches up here all the time, loads of new Yes groups, a Yes register - it's not going away and a hard brexit will make it even more likely.
