I watched this documentary about the murder of Julie Hogg and her mother's campaign to change the "Double Jeopardy" law.

Julie was only 22 and the mother of a three son when she went missing.

Her mum went to the police who told her Julie had probably sent off for a new life in London.

Anne Ming knew Julie wouldn't have done this and a few days later the police searched Julie's house and said that no crime had taken place and that was that.

About eighty days later Julie's mum found her body in the bathroom where it had been hidden all the time and not one police officer found it.

Billy Dunlop became the prime suspect and was tried twice but the jury couldn't agree and he was found not guilty. A wee while later he started bragging he had killed Julie and because of "Double Jeopardy" nothing could be done about him.

Mrs Ming started a long campaign to have the 12th centuary law changed.

Julie's mum's campaign was a success and Billy Dunlop is now serving a life sentence.

Scotland didn't scrape the Double Jeopardy law until a few years after England and Wales.

Angus Sinclair became the first Scot to be tried twice over the "World End" Murders and was also found guilty.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

The police think Sinclair could be Scotland's worst serial killer.

I watched a documentary about Tony Imiela, the M25 rapist.

I don't know if his wife was simple or was had been taking drugs.

Christine Imiela described her husband as a wonder man with a heart of gold and said she couldn't wait for the day, she could hold him in her arms again.

Tony Imiela raped and assaulted nine women and girls.

His youngest victim was only 10 years old, he even tried it on with his step-daughter.

Yet Christine Imiela still thought he was wonderful and was visiting him in prison.

She said she forgave him for what he had done.

Personally I think it's up to his victims to forgive him, not his mad wife.

Anyway as I do...

I googled after I had finished watching it to get an up to date report on what's happening.

He's deid, best thing that could happen to him.

None in the UK.

I think it's trying to point out America should follow the UK's lead and ban guns.

I watched this documentary about the murder of Elaine Walpole.

Her murderer is a Gambian called Juvinal Ferreria.

Ferreria had arrived in the UK a year before raping and stabbing Elaine to death and was claiming to be 16.

However the police thought he was older and wanted to prove he was an adult and would be sentenced as an adult.

Sadly Gambia don't have birth certificates and the British police had to look elsewhere to prove Ferreria was over 16.

They approached bone and dental experts and were told he was probably aged between 21 and 23.

They could tell that by his wisdom teeth and the bones in his wrists.

So instead of getting about 10 years as he would as a 16 year old, he was sentenced to 22 years instead.

Juvinal Ferreria was given a second life sentence after he attacked Mark Bridger in prison.

Bridger was the beast who murdered wee April Jones in Wales.

April was only 5 years old and her body has never been found.

Juvinal Ferreira slashed Bridger's face from his forehead to his mouth in a bid to get Bridger to say where he'd hidden April's body.

The Judge told Ferreira that prisoners can't go around taking the law into their own hands.

Ferreira will serve five years for that attack after he's finished serving his sentence for the murder of Elaine Walpole.

He'll then be deported.

A man in the next town to me was shot dead on Thursday night.

Gary More was shot ten times in Gartness in Airdrie.

It's believed to be connected to drugs.

On a side note...

There's no love lost between Airdrie and Coatbridge.

Airdrie is a Protestant town and Coatbridge is a Catholic town.

For some reason Airdrie folk think they're better than us.

Fur coats and no drawers most folk from Airdrie.

The serial killer Robert Black.

Robert Black was one of the UK's worst child murderers and was convicted of four murders but the actual total is believed to be much higher.

Black was found guilty of killing Susan Maxwell, Jennifer Cardy, Caroline Hogg and Sarah Harper.

Caroline Hogg who was from Edinburgh was Black's youngest known victim, wee Caroline was only five years old.

Black's reign of terror was finally brought to an end by a man in the Scottish Borders, who was cutting his hedge one morning.

The man noticed a wee girl walking down the pavement on the other side of the road.

There was a white van on that side of the road as well and after a few minutes, he realised the wee girl hadn't reappeared and the van was gone.

He ran into the house and phoned the police.

Black was stopped as he tried to drive out the village and in those few minutes that the wee girl was missing, she had already been sexually assaulted.

The wee girls father was actually one of the policemen who stopped Black and found his daughter tied up in the back of the van.

"That's my daughter you bastard" he said to Black.

Black was jailed for life for the attack on the wee girl and was given life for the murders.

He died in prison of a heart attack, a couple of years ago.

I've been reading a book by Schapelle Corby called "No More Tomorrows"

Schapelle Corby was sentenced to twenty years in an Indonesian Prison after she was caught trying to smuggle 4.5 kg of Dope into the country.

She claims she didn't do it and was framed.

Which is what most people say when they get got smuggling drugs.

The book is making Corby out to be a Saint and as well as the rest of her family.

Her sister Merc, keeps dashing out to buy all the prisoners everything they need.

New clothes, medicine, soap, toothpaste etc.

I've ordered two more books to get more facts about the case.

The thing that is puzzling me is...

If someone added something weighing 4.5 kg to your luggage, then surely you would notice when you picked it up?

Kendrick Morris was originally sentenced to 65 years in prison for raping and beating a teenage girl and leaving her for dead, but he appealed his sentence and asked the court for a lighter sentence.

He was granted the hearing after a Supreme Court determined, sentences for juvenile offenders are unconstitutional and they should have the opportunity for parole.

However, a re-sentencing doesn't guarantee a lesser sentence and instead of having his sentenced reduced, Morris had his sentence increased.

He was sentenced to life.

I read a lot of true crime and I suppose i'm hardened to what I read.

However, looking at Queena and what that subhuman scum Morris did to her and how she is today, would break your heart.

God help her.

I'm now reading the book Eamonn Duff has written about Schapelle Corby.

I can see why the Corby family wanted it banned.

The defence team's theory of how the drugs ended up in the surf-bag was the baggage handlers at two Australian airports were running a drugging smuggling ring.

Like this..

Find a passenger with an unlocked bag at Airport A and stash the drugs in it and the baggage handler at Airport B removes them.

Unfortunately for Schapelle Corby the baggage handler at Airport B was sick that day and the drugs flew into Bali.

Now...

If I was going to smuggle drugs between say Glasgow and Aberdeen, It would be a lot less hassle to just drive there or get a bus.

It all seems far fetched to me.

Disclaimer.

I was thinking hypothetically.

I have never smuggled drugs or taken drugs and I have no intention of starting now.

I know how some people like to misinterpret things on forums for they're own amusement and cause maximum hassle to the person involved.

22 July is a 2018 American thriller film about the 2011 Norway attacks and the aftermath of it, based on the novel One of Us: The Story of a Massacre in Norway — and Its Aftermath by Åsne Seierstad. The film was written, directed and produced by Paul Greengrass and features a Norwegian cast and crew. The film had its world premiere on September 5, 2018 in the main competition section of the 75th Venice International Film Festival.[4][5] It was released online and in select theaters on October 10, 2018, by Netflix.

Heart breaking!

The acting is so raw. I didn't intend to watch it. But I was hooked.

Very Interesting thread. True Crime seems to be having a bit of a renaissance at the moment. after the success of things like Making a Murderer.

Did anyone read about the Golden State Killer, also known as the East Area Rapist and the Original Night Stalker.

His crimes were about as bad as it gets in the 70's and 80's in California, even for a serial killer. After decades of thinking he was either dead or would never be caught, they finally arrested him at the age of using DNA and those family tree websites, and finding him through a relative.

Fascinating stuff, I've always been interested in how they piece the evidence together.

Making a murderer what a strange case.
